My Background and Approach
Occupational Therapy is a helping profession with the overall goal of caring for people in distressing circumstances. While OT may not be top of mind when seeking therapy, my clients tell me that they really appreciate the practical approach that I employ. I’ll use ACT, DBT, Mindfulness based stress reduction to help. Using more than 25 years of professional life experience, I provide unique assistance for emotion regulation & chronic illness management. Your individualized treatment will be informed by the variety of skills I’ve developed over many years, and will be shaped by your expressed needs. I’m informed & always learning in these areas: Long Covid rehabilitation, chronic pain/illness management, trauma, LGBTQ+, and racial justice.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I'm the approachable, practical, caring therapist I'd want to visit in times of need. My identity is: assigned female at birth, cisgender, white, heterosexual, atheist, and humanist. I grew up in an ethnically Jewish family, am a passionate social and reproductive justice advocate, an ally to the LGBTQ+ community, a believer that BLM, whereas racial & ethnic prejudice is injustice defined. I’m a volunteer counselor with ExhaleProVoice, a non-judgmental, free Textline supporting anyone in need post-abortion. I understand the needs of executive professionals--I was a Planned Parenthood Senior Vice President from 2010-2014. I assist people to live their lives to the fullest, no matter the obstacles. The past few years have been challenging and we all deserve a supportive non-judgmental space to talk about our unique experiences. I believe our collective mental health has been challenged in recent years, and I work to be a force of change and decency wherever I can apply myself.
