About My Clients

My approach is especially effective with ages 20's - 50's who have already done some traditional therapy in their life and are curious and committed to exploring a different way of being in the world. I have made an impact on clients who are exploring: complex trauma, anxiety, chronic pain, insomnia, codependence, growing up in an alcoholic and/or abusive family, communication and intimacy issues, pre-marital and clients in major life stage changes (vocational/life's purpose/existential.

My Background and Approach

Because of my diverse and continued education and professional experiences, I am able to and deliberately tailor psychotherapy for your needs with your collaboration. My graduate education focused specifically on honing my gift as a true Somatic Psychotherapist. I very deliberately utilize the physical, subtle and energetic body in session. This form of Body Orientated psychotherapy can use various modalities to access the physical body in relation to psyche and emotions. Sensory awareness while in a chair, on the floor or on a bodywork table, breath work, movement practices, yoga asanas, mindfulness, led meditation, level I teachings of iRest Yoga Nidra® and gesturing are a few of the specific techniques I utilize when appropriate for the client. I also incorporate my professional and trained experience with Somatic Experiencing with Kathy Kain and Stephen J. Terrell, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Hakomi, Gestalt, Attachment theory, and Yoga.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am in the business of growth and change. I believe we must explore the whole person, especially the young one inside and where we are in life - physiologically, psychically, behaviorally, and spiritually - before we can decide where we're going. I do this by observing, tracking and interacting with your physical and energetic subtle being. When using the body (soma) and "spirit" in the present moment, self awareness develops, regulation is experienced and truths are often revealed more readily than just via our verbal mind. Where traditional talk therapy can sometimes only get us so far, my approach attempts to repair the preverbal, the wiring in the brain and nervous system that didn't get to develop to their fullest potential early on. I am a yogi, meditator, animal lover and witty tongued direct being.
