Let me speak some words of truth… There is nothing wrong with sensitivity. In fact, Sensory Processing Sensitivity, is not a mental health disorder, so I don’t treat it like one. What you need is a therapist who can adapt these techniques to meet the needs of a Highly Sensitive Person. As and HSP myself and a skilled mental health professional, I can help you embrace the strengths of this trait and work with the adversity it sometimes brings.
Chronic Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can take a very serious toll on your mind and body. Living in a hyper-aroused state is associated with more illness and a poorer quality of life. So, is there any good news? Yes! Trauma-related struggles are some of the most treatable mental health conditions with the right therapy. I am trained in an approach called EMDR , which helps you recall disturbing experiences, reprocess them, and overcome their adverse effects.
More often then not, anxiety comes from unresolved adverse experiences or traumas of the past. Many people come to me because they feel depressed or anxious, and they aren’t entirely sure why. You may or may not be consciously aware of those connections, so my job is to help you draw them. In therapy, you’ll learn tools to help you handle these feelings in the here and now.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): helps to address negative thought patterns that impact our feelings and behaviors. I’ll help you learn skills that help you to identify and change negative thought patterns. It will also help you to confront any fears you have about making necessary changes.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): Helps clients to reprocess adverse experiences that contribute to negative thought patterns and emotional triggers. This form of therapy also helps people to feel more calm when they recall disturbing experiences.
