I am a fat, trans/non-binary art therapist and psychotherapist who believes in body liberation and healing for all.
Licensed Professional Counselor in Hamden, CT
As a Trans/Non-binary person who has run Queer and Trans only treatment facilities I believe in the power of our bodies. I believe in the magic that is being gender diverse and that we each deserve someone to have an advocate and guide who can help us discover our own identity and how we feel safest expressing that in the world.
I have over 10 years of personal and professional experience treating eating disorders. Much of my work is based in eating disorder harm reduction with the knowledge that we each use symptoms to cope, to feel safe and to manage in a world that has made money off of us hating our bodies. Together we can find a rhythm that feels safest for you.
We live in a world that same fat people, stigmatizes bodies of all shapes and sizes, where fatphobia has become a deep part of each of us. Many of us also feel pain when our bodies are weaponized against us wether it's due to gender, race, sexuality, disability etc. We each deserve a space to unpack our deep connection and disconnection to our bodies and why we experience them in the ways we do.
I believe in eating disorder harm reduction and that we can apply harm reduction to ANYTHING you are dealing with. So many will offer you the absence of symptoms, that you can be saved or healed and I am here to say that as a guide on your healing journey I can assist in making safer choices that bring about healing and peace even if some struggles are still present. We all deserve honest help with as minimal harm as possible.
I am an expressive art therapist and traditional art therapist by trade and through virtual work we can use art as a way to dive into self expression, self exploration and as a way to truly embrace who we are. Words are often not enough, hard to find or inconsequential and art can be an opening to a new world.
