About My Clients
As I write this, I am already wondering about you, reader – what has brought you here, what you are seeking, what thoughts and feelings you experience as you read through this and other websites. I wonder if you are experiencing pain, or feeling overwhelmed, anxious, sad, angry, or lonely. Maybe you feel curiosity and hopefulness, or maybe the complete opposite. No matter what your experience is in this moment, I am honored and glad that you are here reading these words.
My Background and Approach
I believe that people often long desperately for change, but change can be as painful as staying in the painful pattern, habit, or circumstance that perhaps brought you to therapy in the first place. As a counselor, I believe firmly that you are the authority on your life, thoughts, feelings, and goals – and I have the privilege of helping you move toward change or growth as you define it. To walk alongside you, I bring a backpack with a wide array of tools, including my own experiences of trauma, anxiety, and relationship struggles; theories I have studied, especially Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Internal Family Systems; approaches that tap into your innate wisdom and creativity, including art, music, and play. Most of all, I bring compassion, acceptance, and a genuine curiosity to get to know you and your story.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I was fortunate to work with a broad population of clients, including children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples. I often used creative approaches to build trusting and safe working relationships with clients, including attachment-based play, parts work, narrative therapy, and art therapy. I have had a chance to talk to people about their careers, romantic relationships, families; their feelings of sadness, anger, worry, regret, desperation; their quest for meaning, purpose, and identity. I hope to get a chance to be with you on your own journey towards healing.
