It goes without saying that relationships are tough. You just didn't think it would get this tough.

About My Clients

Things have changed since the kids came along. You thought once they got older and things would settled down, you'd get back to the two of you but that hasn't happened. And the conflict has gotten worse. You can't even remember what the conflict was about to begin with but it's never, ever resolved. And the disconnection you feel as a result of the conflict is increasingly painful. Or you are so tired of the same conflict pattern again and again, you've stopped caring all together.

My Background and Approach

Zoey uses a systems based approach believing no individual can be understood in a vacuum but has to be understood in terms of their relational and social context. She also is strength-based and recovery-focused believing everyone possess within them positive attributes and potential to live a full and meaningful life. Additionally, she also employs adult attachment interventions, psychodynamic approach, and emotionally focused therapy, in which she has received advanced training. Prior to opening her private practice, she has worked in community mental health settings serving such populations as those with severe mental health diagnoses, at-risk youth and gero-psych inpatient populations. She has also spent considerable time in leadership and management roles. Zoey hails from the sunny land of California and in her spare time enjoys reading, has a fondness for true crime, strong coffee, paper planners, gardening and a whole lot of pickleball.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

The most important thing in the therapeutic experience to me is that you feel accepted, understood and your worldview is validated. I'm all about creating an environment where you feel secure, and that if is the only place you feel safe, that's a great place to start. Another important thing to me is to be curious. I'm not quick to judge. I'm quick to get curious about what could be going on behind the behavior. And I like to do that gently and collaboratively. And probably THE biggest passion I have is that I show up as a real person as a therapist. What you see in my therapy office is what you'd see in my personal life. I don't have it all together - not even close. And I'm not the expert that will tell you how to live your life. It is a collaborative experience and it's about helping you remove barriers to whatever it is you want to be about in life.
