Grief and loss are a part of the human condition. Grief is typically considered to be brought on by the death of a loved one, but can also be triggered by any significant life-altering loss (such as a divorce or the loss of a job). Grief is a natural response to loss, but that doesn’t make it easy to deal with. Symptoms of grief may include sadness, loneliness, anger, denial, depression and a myriad of other thoughts and feelings. There is no “normal” amount of time for grief to pass, but if you find that your grief is not improving over time or that it is interfering with your everyday life, you may want to consider seeking professional help. A qualified grief counselor can help you to cope with the physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and cognitive responses to loss. Reach out to one of TherapyDen’s grief experts today.
Do the “shoulds” dictate your every move? Are you a “people pleaser” putting the needs and wants of others in front of yours? Do you constantly take care of others at the expense of yourself? Do you frequently second guess or doubt yourself? Doing these things means we ignore our own wants, needs and values. Living out of alignment with yourself leads to feeling lost, discontent, anxious, low self-esteem, disconnected, unfulfilled, regret, resentment, or grief.

I am drawn to those who are in transition or processing a loss of some sort; of romantic relationships, careers, loss of family members, or grieving parenting they didn't receive. I love to work with people who are struggling with issues of self esteem, shame, and anxiety. I find it very rewarding to help individuals to develop a stronger relationship with themselves using self compassion and acceptance and then to help individuals empower themselves to make wanted changes.

There are many reasons eating disorders are invited into your life. Just as there are many reasons why a person develops an eating disorder, the way you recover will be just as unique. If there was a one size fits all solution, that would perhaps be as deceptive as the problem itself. Whether it’s perfectionism, judgment, loneliness, self-improvement, health, fear, family issues… Together we will discover what invites these problems into your life, and begin to find what recovery means for you.

I am uniquely skilled in engaging the struggles related to trauma, life transitions, and the LGBTQ community. Many of the men and women who choose to work with me are in the grips of anxiety, depression, addiction, grief, or relationship challenges. Many are highly motivated professionals that are self-reliant and achievement-focused, but often struggle with self-defeating thoughts and patterns that keep them feeling stuck.

Therapy improves relationships. The individuals I work with are often tired of repeating the same patterns again and again, whether it's dating abuse, codependency, or chronic relationship conflict, anxiety, avoidance or indecision. They're ready to get to the root causes and finally make real change. Of course, all relationships start with and reflect your relationship to yourself. If you're dealing with a harsh inner critic or low self-worth, this internal relationship needs attention first.

Sometimes we need someone trustworthy, who will listen attentively without judgement or reproach, and reflect what they hear with honestly and with care, who will stay steady when we are mired in the eddies of our emotions, and help us make sense of our histories and lives. Sometimes we need someone to bear witness to our suffering, our sorrow and our longing, to feel the nuance and mystery of who we are and have become, and to help forge the path forward.

Many of my clients are dealing with concerns such as depression or anxiety, or working to improve relationships with family, partners, or friends. I especially enjoy working with people from immigrant backgrounds who are navigating multiple intersecting identities, and their impact on their personal and professional lives.

You're "fine..." you just need a sounding board and place to vent. It's hard to say what feels off, but you're curious about therapy and think it could help. Worth a try! There's pressure on you at work, and not much gained beyond the paycheck. You're even ambivalent about a possible promotion. Overworked and under-acknowledged, you don't feel great, yet know it could be so. much. worse. Still you can't help but wish you could have more time, energy, peace of mind. Dear client, YOU CAN.
