I support and offer perspective for anxious clients learning to trust self and grow into healthier versions of themselves.
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) relies on a client's own rapid, rhythmic eye movements, and is founded on the belief that these eye movements can weaken the intensity of emotionally charged memories. EMDR is most often used to treat PTSD or other traumas, but is also sometimes used for panic attacks, eating disorders, addictions, and anxiety. EMDR sessions can last up to 90 minutes, and usually starts with a client rating their level of distress. A therapist then typically moves their fingers in front of your face (or sometimes toe tapping or musical tones), asking you to follow along with your eyes, while you recall a traumatic event and all the sensations that come with it. You will gradually be guided by the therapist to shift thoughts from the traumatic experience to a more comforting one. The goal of EMDR is to make disturbing memories less immobilizing. Think this approach might be right for you? Reach out to one of TherapyDen’s EMDR specialists today.
Larger women are plagued with beliefs like “I’m fat/ugly/disgusting and unloveable. It’s not even worth trying to be happy.” We get ghosted, shamed, and ignored - it’s SO HARD to feel good about ourselves. Size is always an issue. It’s in the too-small waiting room chairs, being passed up for promotions, in our self-consciousness while having sex. We feel not good enough, unimportant, and destined to die alone. And this is not just in our heads - we get these messages from the world constantly.
Are you looking for a space to feel supported while you work for the betterment of your life? Do you seek challenges to your current ways of thinking? I aim to help you explore areas of your past that you have not been able to process so that you can achieve your goals and live a fulfilling and satisfying life. Through virtual telehealth sessions, I invite you to reach out to me for a genuine, trusting therapeutic relationship that is tailored for your improvement.
I work with people who are leading (or hoping to lead) unconventional lives: artists, activists, entrepreneurs, founders and creators. I also specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ folx and neurodivergent people (autism spectrum, gifted, ADHD, etc.) If you are at high risk for bunrout (which is a lot of us, given the current climate), I also offer coaching around preventing or dealing with burnout.
