Just like any other group, the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ) community faces mental health issues and unique challenges. However, LGBTQ individuals are almost 3 times more likely than others to experience a mental health condition, such as depression or anxiety. Additionally, more than half of individuals who identify as transgender experience depression or anxiety. The LGBTQ community is also at a higher risk for suicide. Young people are even more at risk, as they may experience a lack of support at home and fear, hatred or prejudice in school. If you are a member of the LGBTQ community and are facing mental health challenges, you don’t have to suffer in silence. Reach out to one of TherapyDen’s LGBTQ experts and get help today.
Many of my clients seek me out to help with their anxiety, OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder), depression and relational issues. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community myself I also have clients who seek me out because I can relate to what they are going through in “coming out” and handling relationships. Please note I only work with clients aged 18 and up via teletherapy video sessions.

I hope to serve those seeking to strengthen their connection with themselves and those around them by empowering their authentic identity. The stressors of everyday life can become overwhelming with the uncertainty of tomorrow. We quickly become filled with anxiety when feeling unprepared for these uncertainties. With our bodies designed for survival, symptoms of anxiety become easily integrated into our daily life, creating the cognitive distortion that life is bleak and unfulfilling.

I work with people who feel alienated, or like they don't belong. Addiction, substance use disorders, and trauma are special interests of mine. Since I’m a queer therapist with a mixed background, I also align well with individuals in the LGBTQ+ community, or who are struggling with their cultural identities. As a result of therapy, my clients feel more connected to themselves, to their communities, and to the world around them.

My patients are young adults to older adults, individuals and couples of any kind, people of all ethnicities, races, religions, sexuality, and gender-identities. People had been focused on the issues of CoVid, but those fears have gotten more minimal for now. Currently, people are bringing in conflicts around relationships, work life, or family issues. And some people emphasize wanting to improve their own issues. Stressful times need expert help.
