Some have been diagnosed with personality disorders and some have been diagnosed with PTSD, likely because they had to deal with manipulative or toxic individuals in their past. I typically see people that have been traumatized, felt suicidal, want psychodynamic / talk therapy and have been told by others 'they are too complicated'.
