Gender identity issues, sometimes called gender dysphoria or gender conflict, occur when an individual feels an inconsistency between their physical gender and the gender they truly feel or identify with. This most commonly exhibits itself as a physical discomfort with the gender one was assigned at birth, including the feeling of being in the wrong body. Children with gender dysphoria may express disgust of their own genitals or a certainty that they will grow up to be the opposite sex. Some individuals with gender identity issues treat this feeling by physically modifying their bodies to better match their gender identity. Gender dysphoria comes with it an increased risk for depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, and bullying. If you are experiencing gender identity issues, reach out to one of TherapyDen’s qualified professionals today.

It takes courage to be honest about how you're really feeling and get the resources you need while working through life issues, challenges, or traumatic experiences. In this process, clients reach out when they're navigating varying degrees of distress and overwhelm, and they're looking for further support. I work collaboratively with clients to build on their strengths, expand their ways of coping, and improve the relationships they have with themselves and others.

Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.

My ideal client would be a fat bodied individual who is looking to repair their relationship with food and their body. A client who is interested in seeking freedom from diet culture, and unpacking their fatphobia of themselves and how the world sees them. I work from an anti diet and HAES (health at every size) perspective. I also enjoy working with folks in improving communication skills, assertiveness and mindfulness and folks who need assistance in navigating non monogamous relationships
