Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a brain disorder that is typically characterized by a lack of impulse control, an inability to focus and pay attention, and hyperactivity. ADHD most commonly emerges in children and teens and can continue into adulthood. In fact, ADHD is the most common mental health disorder diagnosed in young people and sufferers often have trouble paying attention in school. ADHD must be diagnosed by a qualified clinician. In addition to medical interventions, seeing a mental health practitioner who specializes in the treatment of ADHD can help patients and their families better cope with many of the symptoms. Psychotherapy is a healing practice used to address mental illness and improve wellbeing. People pursue counseling with me for all manner of issues related to the human experience. Some of the more common examples include difficulties with anxiety, depression, grief, family conflict, loneliness, self-esteem, and addiction. I also have particular experience treating teenage boys, married couples, men struggling with anger management, ADHD, and adults living with trauma or PTSD.

My clients are highly motivated adults ready to reflect on the past to change their future. This is the space to explore your identities and practice unmasking. Redefine or hone each aspect of you, including gender, sexuality, dis/ability, neurodivergence, racial, and career identities as well as your social identities (geek, emo, etc). When you feel more like yourself, you will feel safe to connect with others and build communities where you can exist authentically.

Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.
