Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based psychotherapy, first developed in the 1980s by Marsha M. Linehan, to treat patients suffering from borderline personality disorder. Since then, DBT’s use has broadened and now it is regularly employed as part of a treatment plan for people struggling with behaviors or emotions they can't control. This can include eating disorders, substance abuse, self-harm, and more. DBT is a skills-based approach that focuses on helping people increase their emotional and cognitive control by learning the triggers that lead to unwanted behaviors. Once triggers are identified, DBT teaches coping skills that include mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. A therapist specializing in DBT will help you to enhance your own capabilities, improve your motivation, provide support in-the-moment, and better manage your own life with problem-solving strategies. Think this approach might work for you? Reach out to one of TherapyDen’s DBT specialists today.

My ideal clients are queer and allied individuals navigating their sexuality, relationship dynamics (including ENM and CNM), or exploring their kinks. I provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients can process experiences, set goals, and work toward authentic fulfillment. I specialize in helping those whose paths don’t align with societal norms, focusing on self-care, healthy boundaries, and meaningful connections.

Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.

My clients often feel trapped in a high-conflict relationship or dealing with patterns that no longer serve them. I specialize in guiding individuals and couples through the challenges of toxic relationship dynamics. My work is centered on helping those whose behaviors don't align with their true sense of self, including survivors of abuse and those looking to break free from harmful patterns. Together, we'll create a safe, compassionate space to work gently.

My clients are those that want to better themselves in some way, but are not quite sure what they want or how to get there. I love working with those that are making major life transitions, such as going to college, getting a new job, moving to a new location, changing a relationship status, etc. Sometimes when we feel stuck in a particular position, our potential gets stuck with us. I love working with eager folks that are ready to start confronting their anxieties in life.
