Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a classic talk therapy technique that helps increase awareness of negative thinking in order to better handle challenging situations. In addition to helping those with mental health disorders (such as anxiety or depression), CBT is also helpful for anyone who is looking to learn how to manage stressful situations. Therapists that use CBT often have a structured program, which involves a set number of sessions. CBT is frequently paired with other treatments, such as medication, when necessary. Think this approach may be right for you? Reach out to one of TherapyDen’s CBT experts today.

Do you feel that anxiety or depression has taken over your life? Do you feel that your emotions lead you to act in ways that later you regret? Maybe logically you understand, but your body seems to respond differently. Maybe you are confused, overwhelmed, and don't even know where to start. You are probably looking for a way to break these patterns. I know emotions and our relationships can be some of the most beautiful and most painful things we can experience in life, but there is hope.
I tend towards open & direct exploration with you rather than a meandering or passive approach. If I don’t know something, I’m not going to pretend otherwise. And if there isn’t broad scientific consensus about a technique, I’m not going to recommend it. I will both cry & crack jokes in session. I don’t require homework but I do encourage you to be trying new things between sessions. I will (gently) give you shit if you don’t. My online calendar for free screenings is at blueprintpsych dot com.

Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.
