Gender identity issues, sometimes called gender dysphoria or gender conflict, occur when an individual feels an inconsistency between their physical gender and the gender they truly feel or identify with. This most commonly exhibits itself as a physical discomfort with the gender one was assigned at birth, including the feeling of being in the wrong body. Children with gender dysphoria may express disgust of their own genitals or a certainty that they will grow up to be the opposite sex. Some individuals with gender identity issues treat this feeling by physically modifying their bodies to better match their gender identity. Gender dysphoria comes with it an increased risk for depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, and bullying. While I have developed a specialty in the treatment of trauma, I finds joy in working with a wide range of individuals and couples, including those seeking therapy for OCD, anxiety, depression, and relationship distress. My clients are typically those looking for a safe, supportive space where they can learn skills to better manage their lives, but more importantly can come to get to know and value themselves their authentic selves.

Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.

Unlock your potential and reclaim your life with a unique approach to therapy. At the core of my practice is the belief that mental health influences every aspect of life, from building meaningful relationships to maintaining personal well-being. With the right support and a willingness to embrace vulnerability, therapy can restore one's sense of self to heal, grow and thrive.

I tend towards open & direct exploration with you rather than a meandering or passive approach. If I don’t know something, I’m not going to pretend otherwise. And if there isn’t broad scientific consensus about a technique, I’m not going to recommend it. I will both cry & crack jokes in session. I don’t require homework but I do encourage you to be trying new things between sessions. I will (gently) give you shit if you don’t. My online calendar for free screenings is at blueprintpsych dot com.

I work with patients that span the age range from 6 to 100. Beyond medication management, I use a blend of therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (for anxiety and depression), Exposure Response Prevention (for OCD), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (for Trauma) and Solution-Focused Therapy (for immediate improvement and better outcomes).
