My clients often begin therapy citing anxious and/or depressive symptoms tied to complex concerns challenging their pursuits of meaningful living. Some have difficulties managing stress related to their relationships, work/study, and/or identity. Some struggle with the loss of someone or something important. Others feel rudderless, uncertain about how to steer their life in a more fulfilling direction. I have also had success helping people with past negative therapy/psychiatric experiences.
My clients often come to me feeling burned out and overwhelmed, trying to cope with relationship issues and past trauma such as abuse, and dealing with anxiety, self-esteem and confidence issues. They are exhausted and feeling like they can't find a way out of the constant spiral. The holistic, client centered techniques I use help guide my clients to reduce stress and help them to finally heal from those past hurts, so they can finally have peace, joy, and harmony in their life.
I will help you get curious and see if there are new ways of looking inside with more compassion and kindness. You will feel heard, seen, and validated. Therapy can be hard work, but it is absolutely worth it when you begin to see yourself through more loving and compassionate eyes. Our work together will allow you to heal and trust yourself, and build the confidence to reach your goals.
Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.
Are you terrified about having a difficult conversation with a loved one? Do you struggle with being honest about yourself for fear of rejection? Are you hurting in your relationship and don't know how to share this with your partner or partners? We can work through these difficult navigations, and I am very difficult to shock, so let me support you in getting open about those hard topics.
Did you grow up in a controlling, high-demand religious environment? The adverse experiences in this type of setting can lead to feeling like you don't know who you are or what you believe. You may feel torn apart, like there are multiple versions of you in different settings. This can affect the way you treat romantic partners, coworkers, and authority figures. You may also feel conflicted about your identity, your sexuality, and even your body.
I have worked with many clients who came in frightened by trauma, anxiety, addictions & more. It is such a pleasure to watch clients conquer these negative experiences and feel whole again. We work with everyday stresses, addiction, life difficulties or relationships with women, men, couples and adolescent young women. We have heard "It feels like a miracle," "this is life-changing", and "I've come so far," Most say they're pleased with how quickly we 'tuned in' to just what they needed.
My approach to therapy is warm, interactive and direct. My clients develop a more compassionate understanding of who they are as human beings. My clients are people who want to learn to change what isn't working in their lives, their relationships, and within themselves. My clients are looking to heal old wounds, and change the things holding them back in their life. They are looking to strengthen their resiliency, grow deeper self knowledge, self mastery, and stop neglecting themselves.
Did you grow up in a high-control religion or strict church community that made you feel ashamed, powerless, or small? Maybe you have anxiety or depression, struggle with "mom guilt", or had a traumatic childhood that impacts your relationship with your partners or spouse. I know how you feel and I can help. Finding a therapist is hard! If you want to explore healing in a safe and gentle therapeutic space, I would love to help. **I am currently seeing women and non-binary people only.
Are you feeling stuck? Anxious? Getting pushed around by your difficult thoughts and feelings? I can help you learn new ways to approach your struggles so that you can have more opportunity to connect with what is important to you and build a rich, full, and meaningful life.
Many of my clients tend to be queer, young adults who have experienced childhood trauma and are prepared to begin the healing journey, or perhaps pickup where they may have previously left off. I also work with queer folks who have had negative, abusive, or toxic experiences within church/religion because of their gender or sexuality. This is certainly not an exclusive list but meant to provide insight into where my passion and expertise lie.
I love to work with clients who really want to be done with their suffering, but don't know how to do that. Maybe you've experienced abuse or neglect, assault, the sudden death of a loved one. I trust that you have the capacity to heal, and we can work together to help make that a reality.
I work with clients who are tired of knowing how to help other people, but feel absolutely powerless when it comes to helping themselves. They give out advice that changes other peoples lives and then do the exact opposite of what they tell others to do. They are well aware that they need to "just do it", but they just don't know how to do it themselves. My clients are extremely critical of themselves, afraid of making mistakes, and feel like gigantic frauds that are about to be found out.
I am honored to be a part of your journey towards healing, growth, and empowerment. I strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental, and compassionate space for you to feel heard, understood, and achieve your goals. Originally from Brazil, I spent most of my childhood moving around. I have lived in Brazil, Venezuela, Peru, Argentina, and currently Texas. Due to this, I have a passion for working with the Latinx population. I am also able to provide therapy services in English, Spanish, and Portuguese
You were raised by perfectionistic, critical and well meaning Asian Immigrant parents, who praised your achievements and shamed you for your mistakes. You learn at an early age that getting achievements gives you a sense of security and validation, but it is short lived because the pressure is never ending. You earn top grades, get into a prestigious university and a high earning job, but find that it is extremely difficult to slow down and listen to your body.
I work primarily with adults over 30 years of age. A few of my specialties include working with: depression, trauma, grief, codependency, major life-transitions, betrayal, anxiety, as well as process addictions (behavioral addictions). I work with people facing a variety of challenges, including depression, anxiety, shyness, self-criticism, life transitions, difficulty in relationships, and the effects of racism, sexism, homophobia, and trauma. // Note that I'm considered an out-of-network provider by all insurance carriers.
I specialize in working with people from marginalized populations who have struggled to accept themselves and be accepted by others. I work from a sex positive perspective and with a Healthy at Every Size philosophy. I have experience with people who identify as LGBTQ+, non-gender conforming, non-monogamous, polyamorous, kinky, and those who live with chronic disability or illness. I specialize in working with adolescents, and adults, as well as people going through life transitions.
I specialize in treating - Anxiety, Depression, Grief & Loss, and Couples or relationship counseling. I also have experience treating those who are newly diagnosed with a chronic or life limiting illness and their family members.
I enjoy working with individuals, couples, families, and parents. Helping others overcome their current difficulties and function better in their life and relationships is my goal. Life can be difficult at times for all of us. I'm good at listening to your concerns, offering support and compassion, and then working with you to find ways to sit with and work through the feelings you're having. Together, we can find a pathway toward enjoying life.
