Welcome! Let's work together to help you create a more peaceful and fulfilling life. I'm privileged to walk beside you. Let's begin.
Gender identity issues, sometimes called gender dysphoria or gender conflict, occur when an individual feels an inconsistency between their physical gender and the gender they truly feel or identify with. This most commonly exhibits itself as a physical discomfort with the gender one was assigned at birth, including the feeling of being in the wrong body. Children with gender dysphoria may express disgust of their own genitals or a certainty that they will grow up to be the opposite sex. Some individuals with gender identity issues treat this feeling by physically modifying their bodies to better match their gender identity. Gender dysphoria comes with it an increased risk for depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, and bullying. Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.
At Perfectly Queer Counseling, you’ll find LGBTQ+ identifying therapists who understand - even if you feel that no one could possibly know what you’re going through. You are in the driver’s seat of your life and we are here to help you navigate the twists and turns you may face along the way. Your queer journey is beautiful and also may be challenging for you, your loved ones, or others in your life. We want to support you on your journey.
I work with sexual minority adults (18+) who are looking to overcome challenges, define their identities, and unlock their potential. I specialize in serving the 'outsiders': LGBTQIA2S+ folks, kink and fetish enjoyers, sex workers, and non-monogamous partnerships. I'm also a believer in the power of relational healing - we're not meant to go through this life alone. With a mix of somatic, feminist, and decolonized therapy practices, I aim to help you find your own path and growth.
