About My Clients
The stories we tell ourselves are just as important as the stories we tell those around us. We all deserve the healing that comes with being able to express who we are in a way that feels true. There is a lot going on in the world, and I want therapy to be a supportive and safe place to explore the different parts of yourself and help navigate the experiences you are having. Together we are working towards building resiliency and hope.
My Background and Approach
I work with my clients from a holistic perspective on who they are and their goals. I believe that the work in therapy is not to stay in the therapy room but to help support the client to take tools and insights into their lives. I choose to pursue marriage and family therapy because it focuses on the relationships we have in our lives and how we live in the community both on a small and large scale. I have worked providing counseling in the educational environments of high schools, alternative schools, and universities. I have a unique insight into how the system of education can both support and hurt those it is working to serve. Additionally, I have a passion for working with preteens and young adults as they are transitioning into the adult they are hoping to be, which often is linked to decisions around "what's next."
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am passionate about how individuals become communities and view therapy as a tool to facilitate that connectedness. Whether it is individuals in romantic, platonic, familial or communal, there is magic in the invisible thread that binds us to each other. I believe by working on ourselves we can help our communities flourish. I work to explore areas of my own learning to be a better ally to the physical and emotional community that I am connected to. I strive to be a connected member of the LGBTQAI+ community and explore my own biases around gender and race.
