Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based psychotherapy, first developed in the 1980s by Marsha M. Linehan, to treat patients suffering from borderline personality disorder. Since then, DBT’s use has broadened and now it is regularly employed as part of a treatment plan for people struggling with behaviors or emotions they can't control. This can include eating disorders, substance abuse, self-harm, and more. DBT is a skills-based approach that focuses on helping people increase their emotional and cognitive control by learning the triggers that lead to unwanted behaviors. Once triggers are identified, DBT teaches coping skills that include mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. A therapist specializing in DBT will help you to enhance your own capabilities, improve your motivation, provide support in-the-moment, and better manage your own life with problem-solving strategies. Think this approach might work for you? Reach out to one of TherapyDen’s DBT specialists today.

I am passionate about working with clients with diverse racial, spiritual, gender, and sexuality backgrounds handling anxiety, depression, trauma, and burnout. I value being able to work with my clients throughout there therapeutic journey. I find it important that clients are able to grow and learn about themselves. When clients are able to get to know themselves they are able to get a better understanding of their emotions, behaviors and thoughts. My goals is to empower each client I work with. Our mind is extremely powerful and instead of it taking over your capabilities I want to work with to gain back control of yourself.

I primarily help those with trauma, anxiety disorders, and mood disorders develop a better understanding of themselves in relation to their lived experiences, their environments, and their interpersonal relationships to foster more fulfilling lives.
I work with individuals, couples, and families, with several years of experience as an adolescent and adult therapist. I have experience working with a variety of needs and diagnoses, particularly adults who struggle with depression, anxiety disorder, PTSD, bipolar disorder, behavioral management concerns, ADHD, and self-esteem issues.
I primarily work with LGBTQ clients, BIPOC clients, immigrants or children of immigrants, and those with autism, ADHD, depression, anxiety, social anxiety, and low self-esteem. And since I work with many marginalized populations, it is important to me that clients understand how their struggles are impacted more by society than by themselves.
Clients I work with come in for an array of reasons ranging from day-to-day stressors to overcoming unresolved trauma. My clinical experience involves providing individual, group and family counseling to children, adolescents/teens, adults, and families. I have assisted these clients in working through complex trauma/PTSD, depression, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, self-esteem issues, interpersonal conflict, LGBTQIA+ issues, and life transitions.
