Living in a heteronormative world is hard for any member of the LGBTQIA+ community. Despite the world accepting us more nowadays, prejudice and discrimination are still prevalent on top of our already stressful lives. As a member of the community, I like to create a safe environment for clients facing LGBTQ-related issues. Together, we can learn to separate outside influences and focus on what improves our situation.
For clients who are going through grief of loss, it may feel like everything in life is turned upside down. Grief is a difficult thing to process, but it is not impossible. Together, we will learn to manage our emotions and explore the meaning of grief. Only then will we be able to flourish.
For clients who struggle with depression, it can feel like the world is constantly gloomy and there is no way out. I specialize in exploring and teaching different ways to manage negative beliefs and emotions. Once we understand ourselves better we work to explore a new path that will allow for more positive engagements.
Life is complicated, and it often feels better to do something we are familiar with. But sometimes this familiarity ends up at odds with our complicated life. I help to break down this complexity into simpler perspectives and explore new behaviors or methods of thinking to work better with our difficulties
Sometimes you feel your emotions so strongly that it prevents you from thinking straight. I teach clients to regulate and cope with negative emotions as well as gain awareness of their emotions. Furthermore, I assist with developing a strategy to work effectively with a range of emotions.
You are your own expert. However, others' opinions and societal influences can cloud one's understanding of themselves. I provide guidance to help us be curious, explore the answers beneath the surface, and allow my clients to live their most authentic lives.
