Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based psychotherapy, first developed in the 1980s by Marsha M. Linehan, to treat patients suffering from borderline personality disorder. Since then, DBT’s use has broadened and now it is regularly employed as part of a treatment plan for people struggling with behaviors or emotions they can't control. This can include eating disorders, substance abuse, self-harm, and more. DBT is a skills-based approach that focuses on helping people increase their emotional and cognitive control by learning the triggers that lead to unwanted behaviors. Once triggers are identified, DBT teaches coping skills that include mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. A therapist specializing in DBT will help you to enhance your own capabilities, improve your motivation, provide support in-the-moment, and better manage your own life with problem-solving strategies. Think this approach might work for you? Reach out to one of TherapyDen’s DBT specialists today.

I specialize in working with the queer and neurodivergent communities and come from a place of lived experience within those communities. Additionally, I am ethical non-monogamy and polyamory affirming and love working with those populations!
Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.

My clients are typically adults 18 years and older experiencing feelings of anxiety, stress, and insomnia. You might be someone who experiences shortness of breath, a racing heart, a racing mind, and sleep problems. I will work with you in a nonjudgmental way to help you gain control over your thoughts and feelings and give you insight into helping yourself during moments of panic or stress. I look forward to teaching you the tools to be successful in your everyday life.
My practice focuses largely on supporting those navigating finding their voice in a system that would rather they stay silent, including women, trans/nonbinary folks, and folks in queer and BIPOC communities. I was a university counseling center clinician for 13 years, and I still have a passion for working with college & graduate students, as well as other adults experiencing transitions and periods of growth. I love exploring the intersection of internal identity and external relationships.
