About My Clients

My clients value that my integrative body/mind approach goes beyond talk therapy. They appreciate having a therapist who is sensitive, and one with whom they can feel safe and understood. Their focus tends to be depth work and trauma healing. In working with me, they learn how to apply the tools of mindfulness, somatics, breathwork, and present moment relating. My clients appreciate that my training and tools are aligned with the latest findings by neuroscience and the trauma treatment world.

My Background and Approach

The body of work that is my career is an amalgamation of somatic approaches that all serve to heal and re-integrate the mind-body connetion. I am a true somatic practitioner. In my early 20s, I first learned about the soma of the body by becoming a body worker. Soon after I began immersive study in the art and science of Yoga. Within a few years I incorporated Yoga teaching into my offerings. In 2002 I began to immerse in mindfuness and meditation training, spending over two decades studying, practicing, and engaging in extensive training retreats. In 2014 I formally began teaching meditation. Then in 2015, my professional practices ripened into more subtle persuits - into the the healing integration of body, psyche, and the nervous system. I pursued and completed multiyear trainings in mindfulness-based, body centered approaches to psychotherapy and treating trauma. I currenly run a trauma informed, somatic based Psychotherapy practice in southern Colorado.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that mind-body medicine and holistic approaches to health are in line with how healing actually happens. Although scientific research and evidence is needed, things that work are not always put under the microscope. Take meditation for example - what was once considered woo and only for the hippies is now front and center in pop culture and conventional healing. Why? Mainly the work of the Dalai Lama and Richie Davidson in the nurolabs at UW Madison. They put meditation under the microscope and got a lot scientific evidence that validated meditation for everyone. Neuroscience and brain imagining is now validating the integral role the body plays in psyhotherapy and trauma healing. I believe in the work that I do, and I believe the transformation is possible. I've experienced in my life, and I experience it in the clients I work with. If one is willing to work, and is open and willing to change - transformation IS possible.
