Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) relies on a client's own rapid, rhythmic eye movements, and is founded on the belief that these eye movements can weaken the intensity of emotionally charged memories. EMDR is most often used to treat PTSD or other traumas, but is also sometimes used for panic attacks, eating disorders, addictions, and anxiety. EMDR sessions can last up to 90 minutes, and usually starts with a client rating their level of distress. A therapist then typically moves their fingers in front of your face (or sometimes toe tapping or musical tones), asking you to follow along with your eyes, while you recall a traumatic event and all the sensations that come with it. You will gradually be guided by the therapist to shift thoughts from the traumatic experience to a more comforting one. The goal of EMDR is to make disturbing memories less immobilizing. Think this approach might be right for you? Reach out to one of TherapyDen’s EMDR specialists today.

A wise man once said “Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light.” - Albus Dumbledore, as written in Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling. Yes, Dumbledore is fictional, but his words ring true for many. My goal is to help you find that light switch in order to let your own internal light shine through. If that statement resonates and you are ready to find that internal light (even if it sounds a little scary), please reach out! I cant wait to meet you.

You are insightful and self aware, you know all of the “right” things to do and think, and yet you still struggle to truly feel good enough. Have you spent your life trying to achieve and move up the ladder and still feel anxious, panicky, or like something is missing? You might be a people pleaser and struggle to say no or to set healthy boundaries. Maybe you have a hard time showing all of yourself to loved ones and instead present only the parts of yourself that seem likable.
