Just like any other group, the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ) community faces mental health issues and unique challenges. However, LGBTQ individuals are almost 3 times more likely than others to experience a mental health condition, such as depression or anxiety. Additionally, more than half of individuals who identify as transgender experience depression or anxiety. The LGBTQ community is also at a higher risk for suicide. Young people are even more at risk, as they may experience a lack of support at home and fear, hatred or prejudice in school. If you are a member of the LGBTQ community and are facing mental health challenges, you don’t have to suffer in silence. Reach out to one of TherapyDen’s LGBTQ experts and get help today.
Have you ever been told that you're the "Black sheep" of the community or your family, "Whitewashed", "Too South Asian", or "Not Brown enough"? Maybe you're not South Asian, but you feel like you don't belong in your community. You belong right here! I go by "The Bad Indian Therapist", because as someone who was raised Indian and Catholic, I've also been called these things too. Sometimes it makes us feel isolated, and we withdraw from the world. It doesn't have to be that way!

Our experiences in life shape us, but they do not have to define who we are. I work with people who are going through life transitions, survivors of trauma, and/or who are experiencing depression and anxiety. Or, maybe you are at a point in your life where you are ready to live your life more authentically, you may be searching for support as you begin this new journey. Depth therapy may help you to understand more about yourself and bring balance between your inner and outer worlds.
Do you find yourself overwhelmed by depression and/or anxiety and lost about how to move forward in your life? Is it making your social life, work, family life, and everything in between harder and harder? Have your ways of coping become harmful? Do you dread things you used to enjoy? Anxiety and depression can be soul-sucking. I can help you take back control of your life and help you be in control of your mind, rather than the other way around, so you can live a better life.

While doing so, issues and stresses related to family, work, relationships, education, intergenerational trauma, identities and transitions are likely to come up. Through introspection, connection, and skills learning, I am here to encourage my clients to grow into and sustain the most authentic versions of themselves.

I work with people who feel alienated, or like they don't belong. Addiction, substance use disorders, and trauma are special interests of mine. Since I’m a queer therapist with a mixed background, I also align well with individuals in the LGBTQ+ community, or who are struggling with their cultural identities. As a result of therapy, my clients feel more connected to themselves, to their communities, and to the world around them.
