Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that's triggered by a traumatic, scary or dangerous event. PTSD can be caused by either witnessing or experiencing the trauma. Events that sometimes trigger PTSD include everything from sexual assault, war, and violence, to car accidents or other incidents that could cause loss of life. It is not at all uncommon for people who go through something traumatic to have temporary difficulty coping and acute symptoms, but with time, they usually get better. However, if the symptoms last longer than a month, get worse rather than better and affect your ability to function, you may be suffering from PTSD. Symptoms of PTSD may include severe anxiety, anger, nightmares, trouble sleeping, flashbacks to the event, frightening thoughts, avoidance of situations or places, feeling on edge and/or being easily startled. If you think you may be experiencing PTSD, reach out to one of TherapyDen’s specialists today to get help.

Have you looked at yourself in the mirror and not recognize the person looking back at you? Do you ever wonder how you went from 0-60? Do you do things in the moment—yell, scream, shut down, pretend like you don’t care—and wish you could take it back? If you are filled with anger, sadness, anxiety, fear, mistrust, and negativity, it will inevitably seep into your relationships with those you love. These parts of us tend to push others away, even though what we most desire is peace & connection.

So many of us have had to disconnect from our body to survive in some way, whether that be due to difficult experiences, marginalization, relational wounds, or other forms of trauma. Yet, many of us reach a point in our lives where being at war with ourselves is no longer working. You may be noticing that the way you relate to yourself is negatively impacting your health, your life and how you show up in your relationships. Therapy can help heal so you can show up more fully in your life.

Does your anxiety get in the way when you are trying to talk to your partner, co-workers, boss, or clients and feel stuck? When we try to “fix” what is outside of us, inevitably, we will continue to feel stuck. When we try to look within ourselves; our emotions, thoughts, or prejudgments based on our beliefs or assumptions, we may challenge ourselves and ask what we believe is true. I hope you are willing to challenge yourself by examining your unquestioned mind. In-Network-VA, Out of network-FL

As a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, it will be my goal to advocate for those of you who struggle to be heard or respected, and to manage your treatment with compassion, understanding, positivity, expertise, and attention to holistic care. In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then into specific challenges you are facing. This will help us create a tailored plan to focus on your treatment.

Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.

Do you struggle with pain connected to racism, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, or one of the many ways we can be made to feel less than or not ourselves? As we build a relationship together, your thoughts, feelings, experiences, fears, and fantasies will be heard and treated with respect, curiosity, and care.
I often see high-achieving college students, young adults, parents, and professionals who experience anxiety, depression, guilt, shame, codependency, infidelity, lack of fulfillment, are adult children of alcoholics or emotionally immature parents, are recovering from trauma, dealing with relationship difficulties, struggle with self-esteem, or are adjusting to life transitions including parenthood or career changes. My clients tend to have strong clinical outcomes as a result of our work.

Client's seeking treatment find that their symptoms relate to addiction, cultural identity, developmental issues, family dynamics, and cognitive affective limitations. Typically, at the epicenter of these issues is regarding information processes within interpersonal dynamics online and offline. Dependent on the frequency, intensity and duration of individual symptoms, clients find strength within cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based practices, and narrative-based treatment.

Many feel alone and overwhelmed when they are struggling with life challenges or mental health symptoms. I am here to provide support. Some people try to stuff the “bad feelings” deep down and pretend they are okay, while others shut out family and friends so they don’t hurt them or feel judged by them. It can be hard to have hope when you feel trapped in such a dark place without a light to see the way out.
