Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) relies on a client's own rapid, rhythmic eye movements, and is founded on the belief that these eye movements can weaken the intensity of emotionally charged memories. EMDR is most often used to treat PTSD or other traumas, but is also sometimes used for panic attacks, eating disorders, addictions, and anxiety. EMDR sessions can last up to 90 minutes, and usually starts with a client rating their level of distress. A therapist then typically moves their fingers in front of your face (or sometimes toe tapping or musical tones), asking you to follow along with your eyes, while you recall a traumatic event and all the sensations that come with it. You will gradually be guided by the therapist to shift thoughts from the traumatic experience to a more comforting one. The goal of EMDR is to make disturbing memories less immobilizing. Think this approach might be right for you? Reach out to one of TherapyDen’s EMDR specialists today.

I enjoy helping clients work through complex trauma, including medical trauma; women’s health and LGBTQIA+ well-being; couples and non-traditional relationships; and anyone who finds it challenging to live in a neurotypical world. Together we will dismantle external forces that impact how you move through the world and discover and embrace each chapter in your story that makes you uniquely you.
Are you unhappy in your relationship/marriage? Thinking about a divorce or struggling with dating? Feeling anxious, stressed and overwhelmed? I am dedicated to helping individuals who want assistance and support in improving or eliminating toxic relationships, seek personal growth and development, healing from painful feelings and memories, and coping with difficult transitions. I provide a warm, welcoming environment to foster insight and grounded decision making and help you achieve change.

Sometimes experiences or sensations in the present moment touch & awaken unresolved experiences from our past without our awareness of what happened; it is all unconscious. This can result in any number of distressing situations from anxiety, panic, & dissociation, to irritability, feelings of overwhelm or sadness. I work with clients to uncover & metabolize experiences from the past so they no longer creep into the present and lead them to defend against situations that are no longer relevant.

I work with adults who have experienced trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, life transitions, relationship stressors, grief, and loss, among other challenges, in a geek and LGBTQ+-friendly environment. Our work together focuses on you- where you are, your goals, and where you want the direction of your story to go. Part of the work is answering the questions that establish the goals and direction, and I look forward to exploring this with you where you are.

I see individuals, couples, and young adults (18+). Many clients come to me seeking somatic healing and awareness, treatment for post-traumatic stress, support moving through the past or making major life transitions, or relief from difficulties with depression and anxiety. I use both a family systems and a humanistic approach. I often see clients who are in the midst of transforming current relationships or are recovering from the impact of history with family of origin.
