BPD is my passion because I have extensive clinical experience in working with clients who have this condition. I have witnessed the challenges and the strengths of people with BPD, and I have learned to appreciate their resilience and courage. I have also seen the positive outcomes of using acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to assist my clients with BPD.
One of my therapy approaches is motivational interviewing (MI), which is an effective and client-centered method that can help my clients achieve their goals. MI is grounded in the principle that people have the intrinsic motivation and ability to change, but they may encounter barriers or conflicts that hinder them from doing so. MI helps my clients articulate and clarify their reasons for change, and enhance their confidence and commitment to change.
One of my therapy approaches is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which is an effective and evidence-based method that can help my clients achieve their goals. CBT is grounded in the principle that our thoughts, feelings, and actions are interconnected, and that by modifying one of them, we can influence the others. With less emphasis on the cognitive aspect of identifying and challenging negative thoughts, my integration of CBT places the focus on the behavioral aspect.
My preferred therapy approach is acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), which is a flexible and comprehensive framework that can be applied to various populations and settings. ACT is grounded in contextual behavioral science, which is a scientific approach that seeks to understand human behavior in relation to the environment and its consequences. ACT aligns with my values as a therapist, such as compassion and knowledge.
