About My Clients

If you have ADHD, you're not broken—although it may often feel that way. If you're a neurodivergent (ND) person who has spent years trying to function the way neurotypical (NT) people do, you know that a lot of the advice you receive doesn’t seem to work. It's hard to solve ND problems using NT solutions. I can help you learn more about your ADHD patterns, identify areas in your life where ADHD is most challenging, and teach you effective strategies & techniques for managing your challenges.

My Background and Approach

I know from my own personal experiences what it feels like to live with ADHD. While that doesn’t mean I know exactly what you’re going through, it does mean I can help you find realistic, down-to-earth solutions to coping with ADHD in your own life. In the same way that counseling has helped me find more effective ways to deal with tough situations, I’m confident counseling can help you find happiness in spite of the challenges you may be dealing with. Over my 14 years as a counselor, it has become clear to me that couples need more than simply a refresher on clear communication skills. Partners need to be taught how to communicate in the heat of the moment, when they’re not necessarily very calm and collected, when they’re both feeling hurt and unheard. I pursued formal training in Emotionally Focused Therapy in order to learn how to teach couples this deeper aspect of communication that they don’t get with typical couples therapy.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

If you're paying attention to the way people in minority populations are being treated in America, you're probably feeling quite unsettled, to put it lightly. So am I. I embrace diversity and I love to work with people to help them lead meaningful and fulfilling lives. I strive to make the counseling experience comfortable for everyone I talk with, and I want this to feel like a safe space for you to be yourself. I feel that remaining quiet about our differences has a tendency to increase unspoken misconceptions and unrecognized biases. I hope to convey an attitude that is welcoming and respectful toward people who have differences of all types. This has always been an important point, but seems even more so over the past few years. While I am confident that you will feel welcome and accepted in therapy sessions with me, I encourage you to bring up any concerns or observations you may have. I welcome constructive feedback, as I believe we can both learn from each other.
