I enjoy working with individuals and couples looking to change patterns that no longer serve them to create the lives and relationships they want. A focus on personal experiences such as anxiety, depression, or trauma, or look at how relationships are working and what can help initiate the change desired.
My Background and Approach
A Marriage and Family Therapy approach means that I view individuals, couples, and families, through the idea that interconnected relationships inform everyone’s lives. The family of origin, the families we create, the work and school environments that shape lives, and our society all impact individuals and couples differently and are a good starting point to understanding one’s self, partners, children, friends, family, and even the broader community. I am trained in the Gottman approach to couple’s therapy and resonate with the focus on communication of experiences and emotions to work through challenges.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am an open and affirming therapist that is LGBTQIA+ and poly-friendly. I am a spiritual person who believes there are as many paths to the love we all seek as there are humans on this planet. It is important to find, support, and nurture not only our own paths, but the unique paths of those around us. I am a partner of 28 years to the father of our three children and have found the crucibles of motherhood and partnership to be among the most fertile ground for learning and growth. Also creating struggle and challenges, so I come to the therapy process with personal experience and an open-mind and heart. I strive to keep learning and growing myself so that I can create a safe and nurturing process for my clients wherever they are coming from in their own experience.
