Are you stressed about eating or thinking about food too much? I provide therapy for adolescents and adults across the full spectrum of disordered eating. Difficulties with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma and/or life transitions can be related to trouble with eating and body image. I work to understand how these experiences interact for each individual, tailoring therapy to fit their unique needs and strengths. My approach is weight-inclusive and queer-affirming.
My clients typically feel like they are “too much”, their emotions are “too big”, and they are “too sensitive”. I invite clients to alter their thinking and believe they are “enough” through a variety of approaches (see “my approach”). My clients are usually seeking treatment in order to increase their ability to “swim in the sea of emotions”, improve relationships with loved ones, and improve executive functioning skills (such as time management, accomplishing their to-do-list, ect).
One of my core areas of focus is working with transgender and nonbinary individuals. I understand that navigating a world often dominated by rigid gender norms and expectations can be incredibly challenging. I work with people that are struggling with painful experiences from their past and want to heal trauma. My clients often identify as women, trans or non-binary, bi-cultural or BIPOC. Many are intellectuals, activists, creatives and the like—some for whom traditional talk therapy has not been successful. I will work collaboratively with you to understand your instincts and process unresolved stuff in you nervous system so you can feel satisfied in your life.

I work with a lot of people who experienced emotional neglect in childhood, and/or self centered parents, and/or very oppressive home environments.

I help couples learn conflict resolution skills, attunement, emotional intimacy and explore commitment agreements including separating respectfully.

I trained as a psychotherapist after a long career as a lawyer and enjoy helping clients focus on pragmatic goals as well as the philosophical challenges that life presents.
