About My Clients
Despite all that you have been through and achieved, you get the feeling that something is missing in your life. A recent transition, relationship or career challenge may be making it clear that some things are not working. You may also notice that you end up playing a familiar role in your relationships and this creates a "stuck" feeling. At times you feel overwhelmed with worry, confusion or stress and may be resorting to addictive patterns or substances in order to cope.
My Background and Approach
I am here to assist you in living the life you would like to live. My style is warm and nonjudgmental, challenging, intuitive and compassionate. I work collaboratively so you can explore whats difficult, hone your strengths and become more fully yourself. I am comfortable letting you know what I think, and am equally comfortable letting you feel your way. I have more than a decade of experience supporting a diverse range of professionals, academics, artists and youth through issues including burnout, 'stuckness', anxiety, depression, substance abuse concerns, ADHD, behavioral addictions, intimacy and relationship obstacles, current or past family challenges as well as life and work transitions. Within the frame work of relational psychodynamic and somatic psychotherapy I offer a warm and supportive presence so we can support your brain, body and emotions to work together.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The arts, the wisdom of the body and a respect for and practice of social activism inform my practice of psychotherapy. I am a dedicated meditator, artist, dancer and yoga practitioner and have more than a decade of experience living bi-culturally. I have a passion for supporting people from different cultures and ethnicities, varying ages, genders and sexual orientations. I have worked in numerous settings as a therapist, coach and mentor serving adults, adolescents and couples. I am both somatically and relationally oriented, with a Master's degree in Somatic Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies. Prior to starting my private practice I worked in community mental health for 5 years serving veterans, low income clients, foster youth and their families.
