This can include eating disorders, substance abuse, self-harm, and more. DBT is a skills-based approach that focuses on helping people increase their emotional and cognitive control by learning the triggers that lead to unwanted behaviors. Once triggers are identified, DBT teaches coping skills that include mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. I especially have a passion for working with sex workers, Ethical Non-Monogamy, LGBTQ+, suicidal ideation, multicultural couples/families, sexual issues, and trauma. I believe that clients have everything that they need to make positive changes in their lives within themselves. I focus on establishing reachable goals with clients that can be maintained after therapy.

My clients are very hard working, have a long track record of success, and care deeply about their work, friends, and family. Even so, life can be challenging. Many of my clients had a bad day and are still emotionally beating themselves up for minor mistakes. They constantly replay what they should have done differently sometimes for days and weeks at a time. They become frustrated they cannot let go of this self-criticalness and even have thoughts they are not good enough or are a fraud.
