About My Clients
Do you feel like substance use is blocking you from really living? Do you want to find freedom from the substance use issues that may be holding you back? I know that reaching out can be very difficult. I applaud you for taking this step. I would love the opportunity to help you become the person you really want to be. I work with clients of all ages, from all walks of life, at any stage of the process, from just talking about substance use to treatment to intervention.
My Background and Approach
I have a passion for helping others and have worked in the drug and alcohol realms for almost 20 years now. I’m a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist with a Masters in Social Work. With this licensure, I can provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of substance use issues or a co-occurring mental health disorder. We will work together to choose the treatment plan that is best for your needs. I want you to feel comfortable with the process. I work with people who are at different stages in their relationship with drugs or alcohol, including those interested in exploring their relationship with drugs or alcohol and understanding it on a deeper level; those who are considering starting treatment; those who are in treatment; those who are just being discharged from treatment; those who have relapsed; those who have long periods of sobriety; and those who need intervention treatment. I provide a safe, affirming space for us to work together.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that all people have the capacity to change. Addiction can be very challenging, I know from personal experience. I got into trouble with drugs and alcohol as a teenager, and some very compassionate care providers helped me turn my life around. This is what drew me to this field. I am not perfect, no one is, and I have experienced relapse as well. Drugs and alcohol are an easy way to escape physical pain or mental suffering. It is hard to change that cycle once you are in it. I know what it is like to fight every day to have a good life. I want to help others fight that fight as well. I believe that no matter where you are in this journey, whether you are at the very beginning or have been struggling for a long time, it is never too early or too late for us to talk. I provide a safe environment for us to explore these issues. I am an LGBTQ+ ally. I surf and play soccer and tennis when I am not working, and I love the ocean. I look forward to working with you.
