About My Clients
My ideal client would be someone who comes into therapy struggling with life's problems, including mental health issues, addiction, relationship problems, self-esteem, guilt and shame, and spiritual emptiness. These clients seek to function in their lives and find some measure of meaning and purpose in order to obtain peace, serenity, and satisfaction. I serve adolescents, men and women, couples, and adults.
My Background and Approach
I am a master's level therapist with the credentials of MS LPC NCC CADC and specialize in addiction, relationship issues, mindfulness/meditation/spirituality, codependency, life coping skills, depression, anxiety, men's issues, boundaries, attachment, personality disorders, CBT, and I have been a practicing Mahayana Buddhist for the past 14 years, graduating from the Vajrayana Buddhist Center's General Program, Foundation Program, and Teacher Training Program in Oak Park. I was a branch teacher in Naperville for two years.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My approach has always been what Carl Rogers called the power of the "therapeutic relationship," which includes : unconditional positive regard, compassion, genuineness, empathy, and congruency. I help clients to empower themselves, by encouraging them to find their own solutions, which always lie within them. Empathy is built by establishing a trusting relationship and letting the client know that I fully accept them for who they are. The therapeutic relationship encourages self-exploration, catharsis, and postive risk taking, which foster personal growth. I would let let the client know that I am there for them and they can tell me anything without judgement.
