About My Clients
Therapy is an opportunity to address problems we want to change, gain insights into our concerns, and develop new ways of being. My style in sessions has been described as responsive, interactive, and collaborative as well as culturally sensitive. I recognize how structural oppression affects us on many levels, such as neurological, physical, emotional, psychological, relational, and community levels.
My Background and Approach
My approach to therapy is best described as integrative with a strong grounding in psychodynamic, relational, and multicultural principles. In individual therapy, I draw on cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and accelerated experiential dynamic psychotherapy (AEDP) to co-construct effective strategies for everyday life beyond the therapy room. I strive to provide clients a safe space to increase awareness, make meaning of the experience, and begin to cope and overcome life's difficulties. In couples therapy, I integrate gottman method couples therapy, emotionally focused therapy (EFT), and accelerated experiential dynamic psychotherapy (AEDP) to improve the quality of communication and deepen the connection of the couple.
