About My Clients
When we accept ourselves we can more fully connect with others and enjoy being present in our daily lives. Would you like to treat yourself with loving kindness? To respond thoughtfully to others instead of reacting based on past experiences? I enjoy working with individuals to develop self-compassion and explore issues related to childhood and family of origin. If you would like to learn to nurture and care for yourself I'd love to help!
What I Specialize In
I specialize in treating trauma using EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) therapy but also use a variety of other treatment methods that I integrate to ensure you get the best possible care. My work is gentle and often includes dealing with inner child issues, past trauma, and persistent negative self-talk. I use and teach mindfulness.
Why I Became a Therapist
I became a therapist to use my life experience as a childhood abuse survivor and a Veteran to help others. I combine my training in evidenced based practices with my experience as a survivor to guide others. I believe that my story helps inform the way I work with my clients and is a powerful example that healing is possible. That we can not only survive but thrive and have a very fullfilling life once we have dealt with our painful experiences. I show up in the therapy room as a real person and invite you to do the same. I believe my openness allows clients to feel seen and heard in ways they may not have before and opens the door towards practicing being your authentic self.
