Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that's triggered by a traumatic, scary or dangerous event. PTSD can be caused by either witnessing or experiencing the trauma. Events that sometimes trigger PTSD include everything from sexual assault, war, and violence, to car accidents or other incidents that could cause loss of life. It is not at all uncommon for people who go through something traumatic to have temporary difficulty coping and acute symptoms, but with time, they usually get better. However, if the symptoms last longer than a month, get worse rather than better and affect your ability to function, you may be suffering from PTSD. Symptoms of PTSD may include severe anxiety, anger, nightmares, trouble sleeping, flashbacks to the event, frightening thoughts, avoidance of situations or places, feeling on edge and/or being easily startled. If you think you may be experiencing PTSD, reach out to one of TherapyDen’s specialists today to get help.

My heart is racing again, and I can not catch my breath. I am just sitting down at work. I went to the doctor, and he said I was okay. I have been several times; lately, I know they are tired of seeing me. I do not want to go again. Last time, the nurse gave me some paperwork about something, but I did not read it. Through therapy, we can change this, ease the pounding heart, and change the anxiety to the excitement for life and what is to come. Life really can be better.
Given the climate we find ourselves in, it can be difficult to slow down, to pause. If you struggle with accessing and processing your emotions, have difficulty with a life event or transition, want to change habits, struggle in relationships, or are uncomfortable in your body, I'm here for you. I work with kids, teens, adults, and romantic/intimate partners to explore communication with self and others using mindfulness and evidence-based practices to develop holistic and lasting care.

Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.
