You’ve tried therapy before but nothing seemed to “stick”. Every session felt like a rehash of the last one. You learned some things about yourself but never figured out why you are in so much pain and distress or what to do about it. The only tools your therapist offered were deep breathing, journaling or cognitive behavioral therapy. You weren’t making real improvement - even after months or years in therapy.
My Background and Approach
In therapy with me, you will be supported as you explore issues that you may have been avoiding for years. My approach is to hold you accountable for the work that you said you were ready to do. However, we will always go at your pace. I get it. Thinking about your past can be uncomfortable. Engaging in deep reflection can be uncomfortable. But both are necessary in order to heal. The good news is that you don’t have to talk about the details of traumatic events in order to heal. This is where EMDR, Brainspotting and Internal Family Systems therapies come in. There is a way to heal emotional wounds, find relief and feel better about yourself without re-living your trauma.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I truly believe that every individual has the right and the ability to determine what is best for them. I believe in creating a non-judgmental space. I believe in inclusiveness and affirmation of various lifestyles. I believe that seeking therapy should be normalized.
