About My Clients

You spend hours worrying and feeling anxious. Your body is tense and exhausted, and you struggle to show up for your life. Whether it's social anxiety, panic attacks, relationship anxiety, or OCD, you know that there's more to life than this fear. You’ve tried all kinds of ways to get rid of anxiety - relaxation, meditation, etc. - and nothing has worked. You’re confused, frustrated, and nearly hopeless. You don’t understand why this is happening, how to make it go away, or even what to do next.

My Background and Approach

I help anxious adults and teens live courageously in their lives and relationships. I most often work with anxiety, worry, relationship anxiety (or ROCD), social anxiety, OCD, panic attacks, and over-thinking. I also work with men who want to have more meaningful and genuine relationships with others, and want support in building the skills to relate more genuinely. A lot of men feel isolated from the people around them because they don't know how to relate. I help these men learn to relate better, so they can have the connection they want. I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which is evidence-based. ACT is a great therapy for people who have tried therapy before and didn't find it helpful. ACT is more experiential than normal talk therapy, and focuses on making here-and-now changes to improve your life.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I deeply believe that anxiety is more than a burden. If approached in the right way, anxiety can wind up being an unexpected messenger with gifts, lessons, and growth opportunities. As one of my favorite therapy writers puts it, through therapy "You will learn that some of our problems and obstacles are our truest friends - our wounds turn out to be the source of our healing." I believe that none of us are broken and that meaningful change is always possible. I believe that teenagers desperately need guidance in how to handle their anxiety. I believe that it's never too late to start moving toward what matters most to us. I lean heavily into mindfulness and acceptance, because I've seen how transformative it is for myself and my clients. I have a background in pro-feminist activism. I volunteered with a domestic violence hotline and worked at a women's shelter in my early twenties. I pay close attention to themes of consent and safety as they play out in the therapy space.
