Clinical Psychologist offering therapy, psychological testing, and comprehensive assessments

Clinical Psychologist in Portland, OR

About My Clients

Most of my clients are neurodivergent and/or have a high level of anxiety. Many assessment clients have self-identified as neurodivergent and want information and understanding, or want to know if they are neurodivergent in some way. Others are stuck in therapy or confused about what the *actual* problem is when they have been given multiple and varying diagnoses. I work therapeutically with adults and with 13 years + for testing and assessment

My Background and Approach

Dr. Winter is a clinical psychologist with a background in treatment, assessment, and research. She has general clinical training as well as a Forensic Specialization. She is very passionate about mental health and therapeutic jurisprudence. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Experimental Psychology from California State University Northridge. She completed a PhD in Clinical Psychology with a Forensic Specialization from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia. She is a Latinx (she/hers) woman, cis-gendered, a scientist, a first generation college student, and neurodivergent. She offers evidence based, trauma informed therapy, skills training, consultation, and diagnostic services.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

It can be very scary to place your trust in a person you don’t know. You share so much of your personal history and self without always knowing how it is landing or what is happening. New Insights’ processes for therapy and assessment are transparent. You will receive information throughout the process about things like test results, diagnostic impressions, options for different approaches and anything you want to know that I can tell you without compromising your care. I believe this is part of informed consent and you should have information about everything that is happening if possible. What do you want to know? I also understand how difficult it is for many people to receive health care from a provider who is adequately informed about their experiences and needs. I don't think health care providers often ask enough questions. I ask a lot of questions - people are complicated.
