About My Clients
I am able to connect with a wide range of children (ages 11 and up), adolescents, and adults who are struggling with difficulties in their lives. I build trusting relationships with clients that are rooted in warmth, humor, and care. I have the upmost respect for my clients' diverse culture, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender expression, and physical ability. I have a passion for working with young adults who have lost a parent. I run a support group called Mothering Without My Mother.
My Background and Approach
My clinical approach combines a variety of evidence-based techniques with some good old fashioned humility and common sense! I draw most heavily from practices that are considered experiential in nature, such as Internal Family Systems, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), and Emotional Freedom Technique (also known as Tapping). These techniques are proven to be highly effective in providing lasting relief from upsetting symptoms and achieving deeper understanding of why mental health issues arose in the first place. This helps us then make connections and observe patterns so that we feel better prepared to handle stressful life events without feeling we are in crisis each time.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that vulnerability is beautiful and brave and that as a society, we have reached our limit in tolerating behavior that is meant to shame and ostracize others. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I am constantly thinking about how different systemic institutions impact my clients' mental health. Social workers are experts at recognizing people's resiliency and strength rather than just focusing on what is wrong with an individual. Working together, we focus on how the ills and "ism's" in society and culture can foster anxiety, shame, and trauma in a person. On a local level, I founded The West Collingswood Revitalization Committee to help funnel attention, support, and resources to an often-overlooked area of our borough. You will likely see me around town, picking up trash, tending the sustainable flowers we have planted, or advocating for neighborhood needs at public meetings.
