About My Clients
Becoming a parent is one of the most exhausting and joyful experiences ever. What does my child need? How can I help them? My hope is to provide helpful tools, coping skills, and parenting skills to assist you and your child to have a healthier relationship and address barriers that are getting in the way. Is your child isolating more often? Are they more anxious lately? I use play therapy, sand-tray and DBT skills to assist your child and help them become more confident and less anxious.
My Background and Approach
In my work with children I implement play therapy techniques and sand-tray techniques. I have learned over time that play opens the door for a child to express, process, and problem solve life events. I am working towards becoming a registered play therapist because I believe in the healing that occurs with play therapy. The tools I use with adolescent include sand-tray, DBT skills, and CBT techniques. Being a teen can be rough and confusing. I will often explore values and communication skills in session. I also highly believe in incorporating parents by providing parent skill sessions to teach parents the skills their child has learned, provide psychoeducation, and encouragement because parenting is exhausting.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that when we take time to slow down and let stuff out in a safe and welcoming environment it allows us to be a healthier person. As your therapist, my goal is to provide a safe place for you to be, let go, and learn something about yourself or how to cope through life difficulties in a healthy way. You do not have to do life alone. I think seeking out help is one of the most courageous things we can do for ourselves and our families.
