Cami McBride
Clinical Psychologist, PhDI enjoy working with individuals who are navigating parenthood, family and career transitions, women’s health issues, attentional challenges, anxiety, and depression.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a classic talk therapy technique that helps increase awareness of negative thinking in order to better handle challenging situations. In addition to helping those with mental health disorders (such as anxiety or depression), CBT is also helpful for anyone who is looking to learn how to manage stressful situations. Therapists that use CBT often have a structured program, which involves a set number of sessions. CBT is frequently paired with other treatments, such as medication, when necessary. Think this approach may be right for you? Reach out to one of TherapyDen’s CBT experts today.
Are you going through a life transition and need support with managing all the changes going on in your life? That might be changes in school, work, family, parenting or relationships. Or even a quarter-life crisis spent navigating new and old relationships. I'm here to support you in processing these changes as well as recognizing your own strengths to draw from during periods of change. I believe that everyone needs someone to support them - and challenge them - to get through these times.

Are you experiencing anxiety that keeps you from fully living your life? Do feelings of sadness and depression get in the way of achieving your goals and engaging in your relationships? Do you compare yourself to others and feel like you're constantly falling short? Do you find yourself second-guessing your choices, statements, and actions? Do you feel like your value as a person is dependent on your performance in work, school, and relationships? These are the issues I address with my clients.
I work with all ages, but specialize in working with adolescents and young adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, anger management, low self-esteem and self-compassion, life transitions, relationships, and trauma. I work from a holistic, strengths-based approach and incorporate culturally competent perspectives and trauma-informed care.
I provide psychotherapy to adults experiencing anxiety, depression, or challenges related to pregnancy, postpartum, or their reproductive health. While many of us undergo challenges with our mental and physical health, no one’s experiences and needs are exactly alike. My role as a therapist is to help you better understand the unique factors influencing your emotional wellbeing in order to develop a comprehensive plan forward.

Our society places so much pressure on the individual to figure their life out and succeed and ignores the severely lacking systems that can negatively impact one's mental and physical health. If you are feeling shame, stigma, or the overwhelming fear of when the next shoe is going to drop, I look forward to standing next to you and supporting you. This space will be for you and I will always uplift your autonomy and self-determination as we work through struggles.

Most of my clients have known something is off for a long time. Perhaps it's a persistent challenge to finish projects, a tendency to double-book yourself, or an inability to read a room. Maybe it's the sense that you're working a lot harder than the people around you to make the same progress. What recent research tells us is that ADHD and Autism are up to 300% more common than previously believed. That means a lot of people have been missed, esp. women, AFAB, trans, NB, and POC folx.

I received my bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a master’s degree from Illinois Institute of Technology. I have a passion for connecting with individuals on an emotional level and taking an eclectic approach that is best suited to your unique wants and needs.
Individuals often possess innate capabilities to manage life's difficulties. Unfortunately one's experiences can undermine this belief. I aim to assist clients in gaining a greater belief in their ability to control, confront, and cope through concerns by reauthoring unhelpful narratives from the past and increasing their self-efficacy. In collaboration with clients I hope to address problems, decrease symptoms, and restore an overall sense of general wellbeing.
I tend to work with clients who are insightful and ready to make positive life changes. I specialize in treating anxiety disorders and OCD. I work a great deal with LGBTQ+ clients, including those who identify as transgender and nonbinary. I strive to create a safe space for my clients to explore gender identity and struggles with gender dysphoria.

It always amazes me the complete turn around clients can do with the tools they already have, they just needed to discover, reorganize or sharpen a few things. Clients who typically seek me out are looking for a therapist who specializes in trauma, perinatal or postpartum issues, women's issues, anxiety or who can help support them in a significant life transition. I am excited to offer you a space to heal, learn and feel you are not alone.
