About My Clients
Many of my clients struggle to be vulnerable in relationships, due to the belief that they will experience rejection if they allow others to see their true selves. My promise is to see, hear, and understand each part of you, especially the parts that you are afraid to show others. In particular, I am passionate about working with LGBTQIA+ clients, especially gay men struggling to overcome internalized homophobia. I also work well with individuals wanting to process early childhood experiences.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed clinical psychologist based in Chicago, IL and I provide virtual, individual therapy to adult clients, as well as evaluations and letters of support for gender confirmation procedures. My foundation is in psychodynamic therapy, an insight-oriented approach that emphasizes the connection between past experiences and present-day functioning. However, I work collaboratively with each client to form a unique treatment approach that is tailored to their specific needs. My areas of specialty include the following: LGTBQIA+-related concerns, early childhood experiences, relationship problems, men's issues, self-image, anger management, anxiety, depression, trauma, and occupational or academic concerns. I am licensed to provide telehealth to residents of Illinois, Texas, and of all PsyPact participating states, including the following: AL, AZ, AR, CO, DE, DC, GA, KS, KY, ME, MD, MN, MO, NE, NV, NH, NJ, NC, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VA, WV, and WI.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Historically, the field of psychology has mostly ignored the influence of cultural and sociopolitical factors on human behavior and mental health. Our experiences do not occur in a vacuum, and in order for me to truly understand you, I must acknowledge and consider the multicultural context in which you live. It is my responsibility to create a safe and inclusive therapeutic space. In particular, I am committed to creating an anti-racist and anti-sexist environment that is affirming of the LGBTQIA+ community.
