About My Clients
Maybe you were holding it together, but then life threw you a curve ball. Your go-to ways of coping no longer work. Maybe you have been thinking about seeking therapy for a while but you couldn't find the time, or it made you too anxious. This can feel isolating, but you are not alone. My clients range in age from young adult to retiree age. I specialize in helping individuals navigate ADHD, parental burnout, life transitions, anxiety, academic/workplace issues, and family issues,.
My Background and Approach
I have been in the mental health field for over thirteen years, with the majority of the last decade being spent providing counseling to students, faculty, and staff at Johns Hopkins University. My time at JHU has nurtured my love of helping individuals navigate personal challenges, as well as those related to work and academia. I have enjoyed and have extensive experience working with the international community. I also offer coaching using a structured and supportive approach to help individuals with ADHD and/or executive functioning concerns. During our sessions, we work on time management strategies, daily life skills, ways to set realistic goals and achieve them, and process the challenges of being neurodivergent in unaffirming environments. I utilize a variety of therapeutic theories and techniques depending on the needs of the client, including cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, strengths based therapy, person centered therapy, and mindfulness.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My work is grounded in an intersectional, culturally inclusive perspective, with respect to racial or ethnic identity, country of origin, physical ability, sexual and gender diversity, and religious and political affiliation. I believe that positive change most readily occurs when the right balance of accountability and self compassion is achieved. To that end, I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment where you can truly feel supported.
