About My Clients
Perhaps you are experiencing intrusive, shameful thoughts and self-label as a “horrible person,” or is engaging in unwanted repetitive behaviors that take up too much of your time. You may be feeling deep sadness that you cannot shake, and a sense of helplessness and hopelessness. Most of your energy may be directed towards avoiding certain situations due to the discomfort and distress they bring. All these can be overwhelming but don't give up. I have the tools you need to find relief.
My Background and Approach
I am a multicultural and diversity sensitive licensed counselor who specializes in Anxiety Disorders and Obsessive Compulsive Disorders (OCD). However, I also treat and counsel those suffering from depression and Grief/Loss among others. To this end, I primarily approach counseling from the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT/ERP) perspective. CBT emphasizes the correlation between thoughts, emotions, and behavior and teaches how to change unwanted emotions and behaviors by changing one’s thoughts. In addition to CBT, I teach other relaxation techniques such as “Mindfulness” and “Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT – Tapping).” In my practice, no problem is too big or too small to be solved.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in tailoring treatment to meet unique individual needs. I also believe that each person’s story and experience is important and valid. Therefore, I endeavor to establish a safe space where people feel comfortable to share their needs and problems without feeling judged: I use basic skills such as empathy, active listening, and a nonjudgmental stance towards this goal.
