About My Clients
I see somatics as a great fit for people who feel a little stuck in talk therapy, or who have begun to realize that connecting with their bodies more might be of service to what they're up to in life. I am especially honored to work with my queer & trans siblings, neurodiverse folks, and activists seeking to make our movements sustainable by grounding them into the bodies that we are.
My Background and Approach
I received my training at Strozzi Institute for Somatics & am proud to practice in this lineage. Somatic coaching is focused on living into our vision for our lives with our mind, body, and spirit aligned into one coherent whole. We hold that the body is the domain of our available actions, our relationships, and our longings. We work by building somatic awareness (how am I feeling right now? What is that telling me?), practicing toward new ways of being in the world (holding boundaries, making requests, returning to center from activation), & lovingly unwinding habitual ways of being that get in the way of what we care about (shutting down, lashing out, over/under-extending, etc).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am committed to partnering with clients to unwind the ways we are shaped by dominant culture & in that unwinding create more space for our wise, brilliant lives to be fully lived. Each of us are needed by these post-apocalyptic times -- I believe that to be alive now is to be invited into showing up fully to the fight for collective liberation in whatever form that takes. To me, healing is not restoration, it’s transformation: a continued becoming that seeks to integrate our many habits, patterns, wounds, strengths, joys, resistances, ad infinitum into a congruent, present-time whole that has more choice. I often say, "it's not a seek and destroy mission, it's just a seek mission."
