About My Clients

Many of my clients tend to be queer, young adults who have experienced childhood trauma and are prepared to begin the healing journey, or perhaps pickup where they may have previously left off. I also work with queer folks who have had negative, abusive, or toxic experiences within church/religion because of their gender or sexuality. This is certainly not an exclusive list but meant to provide insight into where my passion and expertise lie.

My Background and Approach

I believe that every individual I work with is uniquely shaped and influenced by their story. We all have a different story, which is why I work diligently to cater therapy to fit the unique and individual needs of each of my clients. In doing so, I draw from a variety of therapeutic models and approaches. Therapy can be a challenging process and it is my goal to meet you with compassion, support, and a safe space to help guide you through whatever difficulties or pain you may be experiencing. I strive to provide you with the skills and tools necessary to leave therapy with confidence and resolve. I have worked with many issues in my years as a therapist. I specialize in working with people who have experienced various types of traumatic events, however, my unique area of expertise is working with people impacted by sexual abuse or assault. I am a certified trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapist. I utilize techniques from various other treatment modalities as well.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

As a part of the Queer and trans community, I understand how important representation and connection is. Of course, we all have our own unique stories. Your story is not my story, and my story is not yours. However, I find that it is incredibly helpful (and dare I say, healing even) to have that common understanding and shared experience with my clients. Many of us are living at the intersections of multiple identities, and are impacted and influenced by our proximity to systems of oppression and privilege. I believe that healing from personal trauma and pain is incredibly powerful and important, yet only one piece of the puzzle. The deepest forms of healing will come with liberation and freedom from the powerful and violent power structures that our society is built on. Therapy with me acknowledges this delicate and impossible balance. We will work together to live an empowered and joyful life, despite the systemic and oppressive truths of our world.
