About My Clients
My clients are usually... - women-identifying individuals - in their 20s-30s - survivors of trauma and/or narcissistic abuse. They often describe feeling... - like their own worst critic - undeserving of good things - embarrassed/ashamed of their past - stuck in cycles of people-pleasing and struggling to maintain boundaries - like they make little progress in regular talk therapy even though they feel aware of what could be holding them back.
My Background and Approach
A majority of my clients seek me out for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, but I also integrate Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) informed techniques. I find that the combination of EMDR, IFS, and DBT techniques work well together to teach clients distress tolerance and to uncover new levels of self discovery. I have experience working with generational trauma, personality and mood disorders, anxiety and panic disorders, but now primarily focus my work on complex trauma healing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As someone who has lived through complex trauma, I understand the carnage that these distressing experiences and relationships can leave behind; I know trauma can make you question your trust in others, your beliefs, and even your sense of self. However, when I found my own healing through EMDR, IFS, and DBT, I saw just how effective and life-saving these therapies can be when used together in a safe and trusting space. Once I was able to specialize my training as a therapist, I felt confident that I wanted to pay this experience forward and offer it to my clientele, as I have experienced first-hand how they can change a life for the better.
