About My Clients
I primarily work with 2SLGBTQIA+ communities focusing on identity exploration and experiences of anxiety, depression, and trauma. As a queer and genderfluid parent, I am passionate about supporting pregnant and parenting people, young people, and families. I know firsthand the discomfort and feelings of isolation that can come with navigating non-affirming spaces and I am honored to offer a safer therapeutic environment.
My Background and Approach
While my professional training helps me to facilitate the therapeutic process, I recognize that you are the expert in your own experience, and I deeply value the unique knowledge that you bring into each session. In practice, I call attention to your existing strengths while holding space for exploration and working with you to make desired changes. My approach is very collaborative and I will tailor our sessions according to your goals, interests, and personality. I strive to practice through an anti-oppression lens and often find it helpful to examine the varied impacts that socialization has on each of us. My background includes providing group and individual therapy to children, tweens/teens, and families within an educational setting. There I facilitated parenting and queer resiliency groups, and supported unhoused families in navigating institutional bureaucracy to gain access to essential resources. This experience deeply shapes the work I do today.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that much distress that arises in our lives is a very human response to injustice and the dehumanizing experience of living within systems that cultivate vast social inequity. Therefore, I know it is important to engage in liberatory practices both in and out of the therapy room. Over the last decade, I have been involved with Louisiana Books to Prisoners, sending books of interest to incarcerated people throughout the state; provided childcare for caregivers involved in union organizing; and, currently, distributing free groceries through a mutual aid organization. I find great joy in taking meandering walks with my toddler, spending time with my three cats and dozen chickens, riding my bike, and reading.
